A gravel driveway is only as good as what is under it. Stone dumped on sand washboards by August and turns to soup in April. We build driveways the right way: strip the topsoil, build a compacted base, crown it so water runs off, and top it with the stone that fits your budget and the look you want.
From camp two-tracks off the pavement to fresh white limestone drives at the lake, we install and regrade driveways across the Hale, Tawas, and West Branch area, and our own tri-axle dump truck delivers the material, so you are not paying two contractors.

Base work
Topsoil stripped, subgrade shaped and compacted, fabric where the ground calls for it. This is the part that decides whether your driveway lasts.
Stone and grading
Base stone and topping delivered by our own truck, spread, crowned, and compacted.
Final pass
Edges cleaned up, culvert flow checked, and a driveway you can plow without peeling it up.

How thick should a gravel driveway be?
A residential drive typically wants several inches of compacted base with a few inches of topping stone over it. Soft ground needs more base, and we tell you what your soil actually needs instead of quoting one number for everybody.
21AA gravel, crushed asphalt, or crushed concrete: what should I use?
21AA is the standard that packs hard and drains well. Crushed asphalt binds down almost like pavement and is great on slopes. Crushed concrete is a budget-friendly base. Limestone tops it off bright and clean at the lake. We will price the options for your driveway.
How often does a gravel driveway need regrading?
A properly built drive usually wants a maintenance grade every year or two. If yours needs it every few months, the base or the drainage is wrong, and regrading alone will not fix that. We fix the cause.
Do I need a culvert where the driveway meets the road?
If the road ditch carries water, the road commission usually requires one. We supply and set culverts and handle the driveway approach.
Can you just deliver the gravel?
